macrocosm observatory

the john stewardson memorial scholarship in architecture

Bordering on the twilight zone, we often overlook our Spaceship Earth in search for other worlds, we become the invaders; the neglectful. The Macrocosm Observatory contains systems integral to astronomy and astrology; the necessary elements to connect with other destinations and cosmos. Shielded by R-rated architectural fabric, the observatory is filled by natural light during the day. Sunlight filters into the cafe to enable the growth of Earth plants; reminding us to continue to tend to our Spaceship Earth.

"These are the invaders, the tiny beings from the tiny place called Earth, who would take the giant step across the sky to the question marks that sparkle and beckon from the vastness of the universe only to be imagined. The invaders, who found out that a one-way ticket to the stars beyond has the ultimate price tag." [Rod Serling, The Twilight Zone]
